AMSTERDAM SIGHTS & ATTRACTIONS - What to See & Do
For CULTURE - lots of museums: the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, the Rembrandt House Museum, the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art, the Amsterdam Historical Museum and the Dutch Maritime Museum.
For FUN: the notorious (and touristy) Red Light District, the Amsterdam Sex Museum which is almost next door to the Vodka Museum, the Hash Museum, the Heineken Experience for beer, or chill out in a Cafe or coffeeshop - plus plenty of nightlife.
Amsterdam is a great city to just wander around, rent a bike or do a canal boat cruise - or do an organised tour by foot, bike, bus or boat.
Lonely Planet’s list of sights and attractions in Amsterdam provides further details on what to see and do in Amsterdam while you are there.
Top Tip: If you intend to see a number of museums or attractions in Amsterdam (or elsewhere in Holland), consider buying a Holland Pass, which will save you both time and money. It offers not only free and discounted entrance fees, but importantly allows you to skip some of the long queues at the most popular attractions, such as the Van Gogh Museum, for example.
